Green day乐队在美国另类乐坛的后“nirvana”时期崛起，实际“jam pearl”之后最有影响的乐队。本质上，“green day”是punk复兴者，复活了急速而简练的，3个和弦的punk流行歌曲。尽管他们的音乐并没有特别的创新，但他们用《dookie》奖70年代末的punk带给新的年轻的一代。“green day”未能保持住他们的成功——《dookie》卖出800万张，而它的下一张之卖了前者的四分之一，但是他们的影响甚为深远，是他们打开了美国新朋克，朋克金属和第三次ska音乐浪潮之门。（此段纯复制，我完全不懂╮(╯▽╰)╭ 也是我们班一位玩贝斯的同学推荐我听Green Days 的，不是很了解）
